Brandi's Ghost Tour - Haunted Niagara

When I first moved to Ontario, I found it to be spiritually much calmer than my home province, but the Niagara region is a significant exception. Perhaps it is the legacy of the War of 1812? Perhaps it is also that spirits seem to manifest more easily in the presence of running water, and with the highly active rivers, lakes and creeks here, there is no shortage of energy conduits.

  • The Buttery is said to have been haunted, at least until an exorcism reputedly cleaned up its spiritual energy. If the stories are true, a horrible murder took place here years ago. I feel little to no spiritual energy here, nothing nasty, so if an exorcism was indeed performed, it must have worked.

  • Drummond Hill Cemetery: The Battle of Lundy's Lane - I don't get strong feelings when I pass by the cemetery, but others have reported some strong encounters with ghost soldiers in this location.

  • Fort George - Said to be "The most haunted site in Canada" by some. I finally visited Fort George Canada Day 2006, and got an interesting "EVP" recording there. For some reason it makes me reeeeeally uncomfortable, and I don't "spook out" easily. There is a walking ghost tour of the fort. I often feel the strong energy left in the field outside the fort when I drive past this place.

  • The Olde Angel Inn - Niagara-on-the-Lake - Widely reputed to be haunted. I have visited the Inn on several occasions, often bringing "sensitive" friends to get their take on it. They all feel a very heavy energy there, with some better able to handle it than others. They are quite proud of their resident spook though - they even have a plaque on the outside of the building that tells his tragic story.

  • Table Rock - Table Rock is the main observation lookout over the Falls. It has a somewhat checkered history, but is currently managed by Niagara Parks, so there are no brigands waiting to steal your money (unless you count the rather high prices there for film and batteries - but it all goes to support the Park). I always get the feeling of a strong feminine presence at Table Rock, an ancient native spirit who watches over the falls, especially at night.
